Olear Lowe Obituary

Olear Lowe Jr.

Sept. 21, 1935 - June 21, 2012

Hurley, MS

Olear "Sonny" Lowe Jr.

Our loving mentor took his heavenly flight Thursday morn. June 21, 2012. He fought a strong battle with pancreatic cancer to the very end. He is now pain free and safe in the arms of Jesus. Sonny was born 9/21/1935 to Olear & Edna Lowe and grew up in the Pea Ridge Community, Maryville, TN, with 5 brothers & 6 sisters. All his grandparents lived on adjoining property. Sonny graduated from Everett High School in 1953. He joined Army with $10 in his pocket, after his discharge he attended welding class and in 1958 he left the hills of Tennessee for Ingalls in Pascagoula. A few months later he married a brown-eyed gal (Bobbie Russell) from Everett Hill and brought her to Mississippi.

Sonny worked 43 years at Ingalls and then retired to become a full time Farmer & gardener, his 2 great passions in life. He always stayed busy, was a hard worker, had a strong mind (you always knew where he stood on an issue) enjoyed the stock market, an avid reader, was always punctual and dependable. He loved just being home, he loved his family. Especially those Grandkids!! They spent many hours with him while he was confined and sick. They brought so much love and happiness in his last few months. Sonny was a man of his word and expected the same from others. He leaves behind a valiant legacy, one to be remembered and cherished for generations to come.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents Olear and Edna Lowe, 2 sisters, Beulah Lowe, Betty Thompson and 1 brother Harvey.

He leaves loving memories to his wife Bobbie Lowe, 3 sons: Alan (Lisa) Lowe of Laurel, MS, Jeff (Carol) Lowe of Hurley, MS, Darren (Bridget) Lowe of Bunker Hill, WV, grandchildren: Kayce Lowe, Ryan Lowe, La`Shea (Joey) Cirlot, Lynsi (Rob) Smith, Jeffrey Olear Lowe II, Clinton, Darrah & Noah Lowe, great-grandchildren; Alec, Kinsey, Blake, Ashlyn, Halie. Blaire, and little Emmie Reese, brothers, Charles, Robert, Daniel, Max, sisters; Marlene, Earnestine, Darlene all of Maryville, TN and Irene from Georgia.

Pallbearers are great grandsons Alec & Blake, grandsons, Jeffrey, Noah, Ryan, Clinton, Rob Smith and Joey Cirlot, honorary pallbearers; Wayne Johnson, Bobby Ray, JD Smith, Kenneth Green, Norlan Conerly, Pete Hankins, Bruce Davis, and all the retired sub workers from Ingalls.

To Bobbi and Sons, I remember so much about your dad. Sonny had a great and tender heart. He was always willing to help and he did help my mom and dad, Velton and Syble Randolph and they both thought alot of him. I know what he went through with the cancer, it's the same that mom had. It's not easy to see someone healthy and love life and watch what this type of cancer can do. I have alot of memories of us all at Central and the good times that was had there. It's sad that it has gone the way it has. I know my dad and mom would be shocked, but I will remember your husband and dad the way he was then. May you all find peace.

Sonny was my uncle and I was so sad to hear that he had the same cancer as my mom (his sister) had. Just like mom Sonny did not suffer long here on earth. But when he passed from this world into Heaven he got a new body with no more pain. I will miss him. I will continue to pray for Bobbie, Alan, Jeff, Darren and the rest of the family.

Papaw was one of the strongest men I've ever known. He passed that legacy down through my dad and onto me. He was always there to help in any way. You were not ever turned away, no matter the situation. He always would lend a helping hand and ensured it was done right. He was supportive in helping me begin my adult life and helped in many ways to get me on my feet. I'm forever grateful of his kind loving heart towards his family. We will all miss him dearly.
