1948-2015

Our sweet Renée passed away Sunday October 11, 2015 at the age of 67. Born in Germany, she relocated to the U.S. at the age of 5 and became a lifelong resident of Biloxi, MS. Upon graduating from Sacred Heart Catholic High School, she attended Loyola University on a music scholarship to study music therapy. She was a dedicated associate of Walmart for 25 years. An avid trumpet and accordion player, she was also an active member of the Gulf Coast Jazz Society. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and also attended Edgewater Christian Fellowship. She enjoyed traveling, camping, nature, animals and genuinely never meet a stranger. She passionately embraced the most simple and pure things in life while always carrying an uplifting positive spirit and never letting an unappreciated moment go by.
Renée was preceded in death by her mother, Ria Gensert and father, Lee Slaughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Danielle Malone, son, Sean Malone, grandchildren: Leigha Malone, Loggan Malone, Devon Malone and Alyssa Malone, stepfather, Gunner Gensert and loving companion Jack Teston.
Services will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2:00pm at Pass Road Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 12:00 to 2:00pm before the service. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may view and sign online register book at www.bradfordokeefe.com

I can only say how devastated I am to read of Renee's passing. We knew each other from our young days. Our mothers were friends. We have lost a multi-talented lady. My heartfelt prayers & condolences to her family.

I remember Renee from the days at the fish camp---she used to help out occasionally and play music for us sometimes---what a great lady---she was part of a special group at the fish camp---we will all miss her!
