William LeBlanc Obituary

William "Bill" Anthony LeBlanc

July 7, 1943 ~ March 21, 2014

Bay St. Louis

William (Bill) Anthony LeBlanc III, 70, of Bay St. Louis, died on Thursday, March 20, 2014.

Mr. LeBlanc was born on July 7, 1943, in New Orleans, LA. He was preceded in death by his father, William A. LeBlanc, Jr. who died in WW II and by his mother, Mrs. Juanita G. Loup by three weeks. He is also predeceased by a son, Shawn Patrick Morel.

Bill was a selfless contributing leader and member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, being recognized by the Biloxi Diocese in 2008 as the recipient of the Lumen Christi Award. The diocesan award is given to a person who through sacrifice, involvement, dedication and commitment, serve their parish in an outstanding way. Bill exemplified this award through several decades of church involvement. He attended Saint Stanislaus College since 4th grade and was a graduate of SSC, class of '62, and served on the SSC Alumni Board. Retiring in 2001 from Lockheed Martin with 30 years of service, he was the recipient of the Thomas H. Speller Award for recognition of distinguished professional achievement in Aerospace Manufacturing and processes from the Society of Automotive Engineers. He served on the Hancock County Library Board of Trustees and the Library Foundation of Hancock County.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen McGinity Morel LeBlanc; daughters, Cherie L. Purl (Wayne); Annette M. Carter (Mark) and Lesli M. Toepfer (Dave); sons, William A. (Billy) LeBlanc, IV (Sissy), Michael Shane LeBlanc (Cherie) and Ronnie Joseph LeBlanc; sisters, Maria L. Lott and Juana L. Lafontaine. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Because of his personable leadership skills, soft quiet demeanor and vast wisdom, Bill was called upon by many for advice and solutions. It leaves those of us left behind saying, "Just one more question, Bill."

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 24, 2014, at 3pm at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, where friends may visit from 1:30pm until the service. Burial will follow at Bayou LaCroix Cemetery in Hancock County.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Gulf Church or the Library Foundation of Hancock County.
