Moyra Lindstrom

We mourn the passing of a Seal Beach treasure. Moyra emigrated to USA from England in 1946 to marry the American soldier, Sven Lindstrom, whom she met before D-Day in World War Two. Moyra flew to the USA in late 1946 to marry into the Lindstrom family in New Jersey. The opportunities in the western USA beckoned in the spring of 1951, ending at Ocean Avenue in Seal Beach.

The family moved into permanent accommodation on 14th Street in 1958. Many neighbors have come and gone on 14th Street over the years. Most recently Moyra thanked Joan and Gary, Judy and George, Elle and Tom, and Marsha and Allen for being lovely neighbors. Also Moyra developed serious friendships with her Meals-on-Wheels volunteers and her doula, Eric Zizak.

Moyra and Sven were active in many Seal Beach affairs over the decades. Most memorably, the idea for the Green Belt was pitted against a city plan for high density housing through this central Old Town thoroughfare. The family was proud to have played a small role in this lovely park in Old Town Seal Beach.

Moyra loved books. She regularly read a book every day for decades. Moyra would like to be remembered as a good friend, a great listener, and a bibliophile. She is donating her body to science and learning at University of California Irvine.
