Rolf Anderson Obituary

Rolf Frederick Anderson Salem, OR - Rolf Frederick Anderson, 98, passed away in Salem, OR on July 22, 2025. Rolf was born in Ramsey, Minnesota to Ruth and Alfred Anderson. He attended DeForest High School, Wisconsin.

Rolf was a playful soul who would lighten the mood at any gathering. He had an encyclopedic backlog of jokes for every occasion.

He was endlessly creative, whether he was designing homes and businesses, tinkering on vintage cars, drawing cartoons and caricatures, dabbling in black & white and 3D photography or entertaining bored children at the holiday dinner table.

Any kid in his orbit would eventually be introduced to Mad Magazine.

Many remember his warmth and encouragement, and his intellectual curiosity was boundless.

He loved to sing with others, especially four-part harmony "barber shop quartet" style, and did so with his three brothers and throughout life at the drop of a hat.

As a creative and original architect, Rolf designed homes and businesses with flair, beauty and playfulness. They were not boring structures. He went out of his way to create dwellings that complemented their natural environments.

Rolf is survived by step-daughters Cherie Sisti Goetz and Mary Kay Sisti Arbuckle, nieces and nephews Gretchen, Karen, Eric and Kirk Anderson. He is preceded in death by his wife Terry Kemp Zimmerman and three younger brothers, Alfred Jr. (Bud), Karl and Paul.

The family is planning a private memorial.

I sang with him for many years in pick up barbershop quartets in Madison, WI. He could sing any part of dry well. He drew a picture of the Woodwins quartet that we used on our business card. Always positive, always fun...one if the really good guys. The world of music will miss him as I will.
