A friend at Pax River passed on the news of Alan's death. Tragic events but I can imagine the moments before the accident was full of excitement and joy as Alan shared great family times with his boys. No doubt Alan was very proud of his family. I flew once with Alan in an F-14 at Pax. He asked what I wanted to do as it was a training mission. I was easy to please and was happy to do what ever he wanted. He asked, "Have you been to the max aircraft speed yet?" I had not. He said it would be a quick flight as we would use up the fuel quickly but we did a speed run and hit M1.7. That was the fastest I'd ever flown in my 3500 hours in over 30 aircraft. Thanks Alan. Thanks Poindexter family. Alan was a kind, talented, happy man who we all have been blessed to meet. The Poindexter family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Blessings, Marble

Every day that I wake to another breath and the toil of this life, I envy those believers that are at rest in our LORD. I have lost several lovely people from my journey on this earth. This is a loss that has left my heart too heavy for words. I lift the Poindexter family in my prayers daily. Alan gave his family the gifts of love and devotion and a legacy of strength and humility. His family can rest in the assurance of uniting again in heaven. Alan will truly be missed…

We want to express our deepest sympathy to the Poindexter family on the loss of a great American, Alan Poindexter. My girlfriend, Angela Doyle and I viewed the launch of STS-131 from spaceview park in Titusville, FL. It was the only shuttle launch that we were able to view in person, an experience that we will never forget. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Poindexter family.

May He bless you with clear memories of the good times that you had together. I had the opportunity to get to know Dex during the Columbia Recovery Mission in Hemphill.
