Amie Novak Obituary
Born in Deerfield Beach she is predeceased by her parents Odas and Rossie Tanner. She was a 1965 graduate of Pompano Beach High School.
Tanner's abiding interest in Deerfield Beach and its history earned her the title of "unofficial historian." She was a founding member of the Deerfield Beach Historical Society in 1973 and throughout the years collected bits and pieces of the city's history. At the time of her death, she remained a member of the Society's Board of Directors. And while she was involved with many of the Society's programs, the monthly History at High Noon lecture was her special project as was naming streets in the city for prominent citizens.
At the time of her death, Tanner was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Deerfield Beach, the Deerfield Beach Woman's Club and The Tropical Postcard Club.
She is survived by her husband Frank Novak.
A visitation and service will be held Friday, June 9 at Kraeer Becker Funeral Home, 217 E. Hillsboro Boulevard, Deerfield Beach. Services are at noon and there will be a visitation starting at 10 am.

I just found out that Amy Kay has passed. She was an awesome person in every way imaginable and I can´t help but think she´ll be up there organizing things for God. She touched many hearts, and one of them was mine.

We are so saddened to hear the loss of this great beautiful soul. We live down the street from her for 23 years. She was one of the sweetest, kindest woman I have ever met. She cared for everyone. I just found this out. We will miss you Miss Amie. Heaven gained an Angel. Prayers for Frank and all family and friends.

Amie Kay was a warm and generous spirit. Whether with the Historical Society, the Women's Club, or Kiwanis Amie Kay could be found serving, collaborating, and nurturing. She despised historical untruths and unsubstantiated urban legends and as she once told me, "the best historians always seek the truth" ! Our heartfelt condolences to Frank. Ed

FAU. You guys we still have my pictures. Blessings from Ontario, Canada. Never forget my years growing up in Pompano and Deerfield and Boca. RIP dear Amie Kay, you have left a legacy.
