Bart Musial Obituary

Bart Ben Musial M.D., son of the late Gene and Irene Musial, loving father to Nicholas, Derek, and Kaitlyn, and devoted husband to Debra Musial, passed away this Monday the 23rd of March 2015. Since he was five years old, Bart knew he wanted to be a healer. Beginning with his acceptance into Regis high school he went on to graduate from Manhattan College and then the University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. He did his residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Rutgers and his fellowship at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital. He lived out his childhood dream of becoming a doctor as an Invasive cardiologist as a Partner at Cardiology Associates of Fort Lauderdale for 23 years until he began to falter in his extensive battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Bart Musial was cherished by his family, friends, and patients just as he cherished them. His battle was long but he fought with poise and dignity until the end. He will be sorely missed. If you wish to pay your respects, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation towards pancreatic research through the American Cancer Society or cardiovascular research at Holy Cross Hospital. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 28th, 2015 at St. Coleman's Church 1200 S. Federal Highway Pompano Beach, Florida 33062 at 2 PM. www.baird-casefh.com

Dr Musial saved my life with an angioplasty, on two occasions. He was kind and funny. I was talking away during the procedure and he laughed and said "You know most people would be asleep by now!" ;) Great doctor.

I first met Dr. Musial as an employee and then he was my father's cardiologist. He always went the extra mile. He was a kind and generous friend to my husband and myself as well. I pray that his family have some comfort and always remember happy memories. RIP Dr. Musial.

Dear Debra and family,
I too just received my Manhattan College magazine that mentioned Bart's passing. I was one of Bart's roommates at school and his life really did have a positive effect on mine. We had some good times up college and he was the best roommate anyone could have asked for. Most of all, I needed Bart's example of hard work and dedication to his studies. He always had a goal, I did not and with any other roommate I probably would not have made it through school. It was also great to have him around when the local frat attacked us with snowballs. After a few throws from Bart they never bothered us again. I am really sorry for you loss and even though I have not seen him in many years he has been in my thoughts often and I will miss him dearly. Sincerely, Kevin Stokes

Dear Debra and family,
I just received my Manhattan College magazine and saw the obituary for Bart. I am so sorry to hear that he passed, after a valiant battle with cancer. I was in a group of friends that ran with Bart in our pre-Med years at Manhattan along with John Procaccino, Rosemarie Duigou, and Steve Pietretti. He was a great guy and although we had not kept in touch, it is still a blow to hear about his untimely death. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Anne Marie (Zaranski) Brown '80

My family is still so overwhelmed by the lose of this dear and Cherished Doctor and friend.
We came to love him as a kind and loving Dr. who treated myself and my beloved Husband Stevens. Most people think that going to the "dr's" was a dreaded experience. Not with Dr. Musiel. He always had time to talk about what was important to us and how our lives were coming along. He told me of his illness one day as I was there for a check up. I was telling him about my daughter who was diagnosed with advanced stage 3 Cancer . He gave me hope and a sense of direction and a kind pat on the back. My late husband would spend his visits laughing about music and . He was a true Gem of a human being a gift from God to those who knew him.
To his Family my prayers and hope that as the pain moves away from heart it is filled with the happiness and joy and beautiful memories that only a man like Dr. Musiel could provide. we were blessed to have known him . God Bless Marie Weiss

I just learned about Dr. Musial's death...He treated my beloved mother over the past 15 years...He was a gem...He looked at you straight in the face and gave it to you straight...At the same time, he was considerate, which was impressive...He never portrayed that sort of emotional disconnect that befalls so many in his position...I always got the feeling that Dr.Musial was emotionally strong enough to allow himself to care, but his care never got in the way of the science...It's a tough balancing act, but he executed it with the precision of an Olympic gymnast...Great man...I'm sad

I have moved out of state to California, but was deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Musial's passing. I met him a year ago as a patient. He was a great person, and a great doctor. Everything about him exuded caring, joy and confidence. I was so happy with the way he and the staff at Cardiology Associates treated me that I wrote a letter thanking them all for constantly smiling, and being positive and always, always almost joyful. This is such a loss. To his family and to his staff...you all have my deepest sympathy.

My husband and I were both patients of Dr. Musial, whom my husband had first met as a teenager. We were so sad to hear first of his diagnosis, and later of his death. We were always hopeful - his attitude was so positive. We will miss him greatly.

"Stan the man" is what we use to call him since Stan Musial was such a great man as well. Dr. Musial was so caring to his patients and so wonderful to our staff. No one worried or complained when he called us in to work late at night. His dedicataion to his patients made it worth every hour. My heart is sad.

To the Musial family,
I was a patient of Bart's and the wife of the late Dr Rob Geronemus, a colleague and dinner partner at many Casa D;angelo evenings until I relocated. Bart was refined and kind and educated, had a subtle humor, big heart and protective air.
He also saved the life of my brother.
I saddened and feel the pain you must be enduring. May he rest among the angels.

I worked with Dr Musial or Mus as I called him since his inception at North Ridge Medical Center, "Cath Lab North". I worked many difficult cases with him that he would not give up! I never met a more gifted Dr, an honest husband and loving father...When I went for my Mt Everest bid it was Dr Musial who put me through the paces to ensure I could make it up the Mountain. During a stress test on a level 15 at a run after a half hour running uphill, I asked how long is this test? To which he replied " oh you were good 20 minutes ago, I just thought I'd let you go"! My heart goes out to the family in this unfortunate time. Taken too soon, bye Dr Musial..Toni Lugger RCIS

What a wonderful Doctor and friend he was...God bless his family, my heart breaks for you, but know he will always be by your side. You were so lucky to have such a wonderful father.

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Bart Musial when he joined Cardiology Associates. I was a new nurse and he was new to our practice. I found his unique personality to be intriguing. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. He adored his wife, children, and family. He loved his job, patients, and colleagues. He was trusted, admired, loyal, funny, kind, and loving beyond measure. The world was a better place having had Dr. Bart Musial in it. May his dear family find peace and comfort in God during their difficult time of grief. They will be lifted up in my deepest prayers.

I was working for Dr Musial when his dad passed. After his wake I went to a local restaurant for dinner and Dr Musial and his family walked in to have a late supper. He spotted me and came over and asked me to join he and his family for dinner and introduced me to his brother and all the kids. I will never forget that. I saw his compassion every day both in the office and at the hospital. He was the first one there when my dad had a heart attack at age 80. I saw Dr last in 2011 before I moved away and although he was in the battle then, he was just the same Dr Musial. My deepest condolensces to the family and all his patients of south Florida.
