Bernard Schuster Obituary

Schuster, Bernard, 87 passed away on March 3, 2006 in Boca Raton, FL. He was born on May 17, 1918 in New York City to Bessie and Rubin Schuster. He lived most of his life in Colchester, CT and Niantic, CT before moving to Boca Raton. His loving wife, Ida E. Schuster, predeceased him on Dec. 13, 2002. He also was predeceased by his brother Paul Schuster and sister Beatrice "Bookie" Simon and brothers-in-law Mitchell Simon and David "Duddy" Hurwit. His beloved daughter Marcia and son-in-law Michael Weinkoff and son Marty S. Schuster survive him. He leaves his grandchildren Jeff Powers, Richard Powers, Paul Powers, and Shari Powers Rodgers. He also leaves great-grandchildren Eric Powers, Seth Ian Rodgers, and Liam Isaiah Rodgers. His sister Sarah Hurwit, sister Hilda, brother-in-law Sam Teitelbaum, sister-in-law Phyllis Schuster, brother I. Tully and sister-in-law Rita Schuster, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members survive him. Ben was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather. He was an owner of Schuster Express until 1983 and an active member of Congregation Ahavath Achim. He was loved by many and respected by all those who met him. He was a true leader and helped many people in his lifetime. His funeral will take place on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at Congregation Ahavath Achim Synagogue in Colchester, CT. Interment will follow at the Synagogue Cemetery. Donations may be made to Congregation Ahavath Achim Synagogue or the charity of your choice. Belmont Funeral Home in Colchester is entrusted with arrangements.

To the Schuster Family, My Sincere Sympathy is with you all. Mr. Ben Schuster was a great person and will be missed by all. I knew him when I worked at Schusters Expreess, many years ago.

I met Bennie in 1938 when his father's trucking company hauled dresses to NYC that my father made in New London Ct. I knew the entire family. He was a fine and very likable mensch. My condolences to you.
