I am so sorry to hear about Bob. Patti, I met him only once but I feel as though he was so good. He was good to you. He was so gentle. His soul was wise. I know you miss him. I pray for peace for him and for peace through him for you.

Patti, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and Bob's family in this time of sadness and great loss. Where does one begin? Bob was an inspiration to everyone that he met. His determination, willpower and fight, through this all, was to be admired and respected. He was determined to overcome the challenges dealt to him and his day to day positive, upbeat attitude, through it all, will be one of the many lasting memories I will have of Bob. I worked with Bob the past 14 years as he brought comfort to the many patients, staff and visitors who view his work at our many Army medical faciltiies throughout the world. Through his most wonderful murals, his memory will live on and on. May you rest in peace, my friend. I will now view every sunset as a continuation of your painted work from above.

My hart is with you in your time of loss. I was sad to hear that Bob finaly lost his fight, the only console you have is that he is no more pain. I lost my husband the 7th of last month at the age of 48 and I know that is a terrible loss. I can not tell you that it will get easier but that is what everyone tell me. Bob was a wonderful person, You probably do not remember me but I am a friend of Bill and Debbie's we met at the air and sea show on the terrace at Bills. I hope that your days get better and know that Bobs work will be remembered for many years to come. He will bring happiness to all that see it. Again my condolances.

Bob, your love for life and the expression of that love through your art will live on forever. I was fortunate to have known you and even more fortunate to have the gifts you painted for me as an expression of your appreciation for our friendship. My most memorable story was the time I asked you to paint the longhorn skulls and the expression on your face when I showed up at your apartment with the skulls. You did a magnificent work of art, using the skulls as your canvass, Kathy and I will think of you always when we see them in our home and show them to our friends. They will be valued, along with all of your works, you will be missed. From one Covette guy to another, rest in peace my friend

We always had good times together. From the time at the fish pond to the flag pole caper, to the days on the farm, he was always the older, (but not always the wiser) brother. He and I talked to each other, but as you know he wasn't one for writing letters. He and I always had an understanding that we would call each other every year or so to see how things were.

I can say that I have the many good memories of being able to work with Butch while I was in the Air Force, and would visit him while I was on leave. I made more money painting with him in 3 weeks, than what I was making for the rest of the year working for Uncle Sam.

He has and always will be in my eyes, one of the greatest artist of his time. As a child I saw him when he drew with colored pencils at our grandparents home. No one ever thought that he was doing the drawings, they thought he was tracing them. But I knew...

Some people consider me as an artist with things that I can do with paint, mainly for home decorating, but many of the ideas that I get are because Butch would always say, "if you don't know what the hell you want it to look like, just try anything, because most people don't know what they want anyway. If it's different and you look like you knew what you were doing, people will like it".

Butch will be missed greatly by my family and I.

He painted a picture and gave it to the President of the United States. I wonder what the next picture will be about. If you start to see beautiful colors in the sunrise and sunset, that were not there before, just remember there is now a pro with a paint brush up there..

To my dear and only brother, You will be missed but not forgoten, God Bless You and I Love You..

I was deeply saddened to hear that my Uncle has passed away. Even though I had never had the opportunity to meet him, I feel as though I've met him through hearing the found memories/stories that I've grown up hearing about Bob. My prayers go out to his family.
