Charles "Charlie" Scalisi

Scalisi , Charles "Charlie" , 81, of Plantation, formerly of Rosedale, NY and Clearwater, FL died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at University Hospital, Tamarac. Charlie was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Miramar in 1975 with his family after retiring from the New York City Transit Authority where he earned several commendations and after five promotions retired as a supervisor. He was an Army veteran and served in the Medical Corps. He was an officer in the Americans of Italian Heritage Club in Hollywood, FL, served as parliamentarian of the Broward Council of Italian American Clubs, and was an active member and officer of the Florida Federation of Italian American Clubs for many years. Charlie constantly demonstrated his love and pride in his Italian heritage and had many, many friends in the Italian-American community. He enjoyed scotch and soda, playing pinochle, and was a great dancer. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; son, Charles Scalisi, III, Dunedin; daughter, Julieann Scalisi, Coconut Creek; sister, Lena Scalisi, Rockaway Beach, NY; two grandsons, Tino Pegnataro (a student at USF), Tampa, and Nicolas Pegnataro, Coconut Creek; and four granddaughters, Dominique Scalisi, Gabriellen Scalisi, Angelica Scalisi and Sabrina Scalisi, all of Dunedin. Visitation was held this week at Eternal Rest Memories Park and Funeral Home (his son's funeral home) in Dunedin, FL. Local visitation will be Saturday, 6:00-8:00 pm, and Sunday, 12:00 noon-4:00 pm at Panciera Memorial Home, 4200 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, FL 33021, 954-989-9900 .
