Chris Konstandinos Zoley

Chris Konstandinos Zoley, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Plantation, Florida on October 8, 2014. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 71 years, Anastacia. He was born March 20, 1926 and raised in Florina, Greece, to parents Linka and Kostas Zolis. In 1951, Chris left Greece for Toronto, Canada to pursue a better life for his family. In 1953, Anastacia, her mother, and two children Larry and George took a 16 day transatlantic voyage aboard the T.S.S. Nea Hellas from Athens, Greece to Ellis Island where they reunited with Chris. Chris & Stacia settled in Akron, Ohio where their daughter Mary and son Louis were born. On Thanksgiving Day in 1969 the family moved to Plantation, Florida - which rounded out a legendary story that would kick off each Thanksgiving dinner thereafter. They joined St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Ft. Lauderdale where they were active members for 45 years. Chris worked as a bartender and manager of restaurants in Akron, and South Florida. His tireless work ethic and "no quit" attitude earned the love and respect of all who knew him. While telling the stories of the past with fine detail at family get-togethers, leading the Greek dancing at a wedding, and travelling back to Macedonia, Chris was at his happiest and most content when in his family's presence. His spirit is woven indelibly and eternally into the hearts of those who loved him. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Those who are left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Larry, George, Mary, and Louis. He also leaves his brother Lazo, sister Sophica, and was predeceased by brother Tase. Admired and loved by grandchildren Holly (Zoley) Meehan, Christopher Zoley, Timothy Zoley, Tracy Zoley, Nicole Angelo and Nicholas Angelo. Adoring great-grandfather "Dedo" of George, Olivia, Alexander, and Ani. Everyone who remembers Chris & Stacia's incredible lives and journey together is asked to remember them with a prayer and a smile. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church on Monday, October 13 at 11:00 am. Internment to follow at The Boca Raton Mausoleum.
