Daniel Sours Obituary

Sours, Daniel L., 72 of Fort Lauderdale passed away on January 1, 2004. He was born in Enid, Oklahoma and moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1945 where he attended Lauderdale High School graduating in 1949. He graduated from the University of Miami with a B.A. Degree in Business and was a member of the Sigma NU Fraternity. Dan was in the construction business with his father James Sours then joined Atlantic Federal Savings & Loan (now Bank Atlantic) where he was Sr. Vice President. After retiring from Atlantic Federal, he moved to Cashiers, NC where he was a real estate appraiser. He moved back to Ft. Lauderdale in 2000 where he enjoyed his retirement and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean; son, Daniel L. Sours, Jr.; daughter, Virginia K. Myers; son-in-law, Peter Myers; grandson, Adam C. Myers; stepchildren, J. Stephen Powell, III, Michael H. Powell, Dorothy Powell Peck (Mrs. Mark); stepgrandchildren, Mark R. Peck, Jr. & Stephen Powell Peck; a sister, Mary Barnes and a brother, James K. Sours and sister-in-law, Alice Sours. The family will greet friends on Monday, Jan. 5th from 6:00-8:00 PM at FRED HUNTER'S FORT LAUDERDALE FUNERAL HOME, 718 S. Federal Hwy. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that contributions be made to your favorite charity. A private family graveside service will be held.

I never met Mr. Sours but I know he must have been a nice man because his two children, Virginia and Danny are wonderful people. He will be missed by them. My father also passed away suddenly. There is never a good time for a loved one to pass on and I extend my sincere condolences to the entire family.
