Dorothy Markman

1915 - 2016

Dorothy Oppenheim Markman passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and compassionate caregiver Angela Dingwall at her home in Pompano Beach, Florida on February 26th, 2016. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday on November 13, 2015. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Valerie M. Schwartz of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Lawrence D. Markman (Sally) of Delray Beach FL, and Katie E. Markman of Parker, CO. She is also survived by her younger sister, Esther Shepard of Rancho Mirage CA, her grandchildren Andrew Arthur (Heidi) of New York, NY, Lorie Arthur of Charlotte, NC, Brett Markman (Tasha) of Boca Raton, FL, Brad Markman of Boca Raton, FL, Jenna Markman of Delray Beach, FL, and four great grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Hyman Markman, her twin sister Nettie and twin brothers Harold and Louis. Dorothy was born in Des Moines, IA and lived Peoria, IL where she raised her family, before moving to Florida. Dorothy was well known for her wonderful sense of humor, beauty and outgoing graciousness. She was a successful debater and tennis champion. A graveside memorial service will be held at Temple Beth El Memorial Gardens, 4900 Old Griffin Road, Davie, FL on Monday, February 29th, 2016 at 12 noon.
