Dr. Eike L. Parl

It is with profound sadness we announce the recent passing of Dr. Eike L. Parl at the age of 83. Dr. Parl was a kind, caring, compassionate and very generous man. He loved his family and was devoted to his profession. He enjoyed traveling to faraway places and trying exotic foods. Boating, fishing and just being near the ocean gave him comfort and peace. Reading everything from newspapers, books, journals and anything medical was his passion. He liked telling jokes and shared his collection with family, friends and colleagues. Seeing people smile and laugh made his day. Dr. Parl is very loved and will be missed by his family and friends. He leaves his wife Paula of 25 years, his three children, who made him very proud; Dr. Silke Parl, Dr. Fenja Parl, Haiko Parl, so happy to be a grandfather to Tanner, Ella, Bradley and Hagan. Brothers, Dr. Fritz Parl and Dr. Henry Parl who followed their brother to the United States and became successful doctors in their own right, sister, Wiebke Griesse who is a retired teacher living in Germany. He also leaves nieces Karen, Anke, Anne, nephews Heiko and Eric. Dr. Parl was born in Chemnitz, Germany to Dr. Helmut and Anna Parl. He graduated from Hannover High School in Hannover, Germany, graduated from Free University in Berlin; and received his M.D. at the University of Goettingen, Germany. Internships in Internal Medicine, Surgery and OB/GYN were completed and he was licensed to practice medicine in Germany. He joined The Education Council for Foreign Medical Graduates and came to the United States. He did a rotating internship for one year at Mercer Hospital in Trenton, New Jersey. His residency was completed in OB/GYN at the University of Pennsylvania, under S. Leon Israel, M.D. at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he worked for the Instructor Gynecology Teaching Service. Dr. Parl was licensed to practice medicine in the state of Pennsylvania. He later moved to Plantation, Florida where he resided for over 50 years, became licensed to practice medicine in the state of Florida and was elected Fellow with The American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists. He opened his office in Plantation and began practicing Infertility, OB/GYN, Surgery and Menopause Management. He was extremely dedicated to his patients. He was on staff at Northwest Medical Center, Florida Medical Center, Plantation General Hospital and Westside Regional Medical Center. Dr. Eike Parl received The Physicians Recognition Award from The American Medical Association and The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, was in Who's Who of Florida and Who's Who in the South and Southeast. He was Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Plantation General Hospital for four years. Also, certified by examination as a Menopause Clinician with The North American Menopause Society. Dr. Parl had lifetime memberships in The American Medical Association, The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The Broward County Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Southern Medical Association and The North American Menopause Society. A Celebration of Life will be held for Dr. Eike L. Parl at a later date. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O.
