Evelyn K. Stuart

Stuart, Evelyn K., formerly of Duxbury and Harwichport, MA, died in Fort Lauderdale, FL on February 3, 2006 at the age of 87. Born and raised in Concord, NH, Mrs. Stuart had an interesting and successful career as Executive Secretary and Office Manager. She worked for Lieutenant Governor Bowen and Governor Murphy of the State of New Hampshire, as well as for Mr. Tappan of the Tappan Stove Company in Los Angeles, and for Dr. King in Duxbury as his secretary and medical assistant. She also worked for Eben Briggs at his oil company in Duxbury for 27 years, until her retirement. Evelyn was the wife of the late Wesley B. Stuart, who grew up in Duxbury and was the Tax Collector there for many years. She is survived by her sister, Glady Main of Ocala, FL; her son, Austin Stuart, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, her daughter, Sally Steele, of Huntington Beach, CA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held in Duxbury at the Mayflower Cemetery on February 22, 2006, at 1:00 pm.
