George E. "Sonny" Crespo

George Crespo Obituary

Crespo, George E. "Sonny", 74, of Pembroke Pines, died Saturday, March 20, 2004. He passed away gently, the way he lived. Sonny was a true man of kindness whose greatest love in life was his children, family, and friends. To hear him say the words, "I love you" were as common to hear as his laughter. He loved life to the end, was never sad, and always expressed his appreciation for everything he had in his life. Sonny loved to laugh and to tell you the latest joke. He was the kind of person who would go out of his way to do for others; he lived to make others happy. Sonny was a jack-of-all-trades around the house; he could fix almost everything and figure out how to fix what he didn't know. And his hobbies, he so generously passed on to his children of boating, fishing, tinkering, laughing, watching the Food Channel, and Poker on TV, will be carried on with great pride and respect for a father who was taken too soon. Sonny was a musician from way back; he taught himself to play the drums when he was just a teenager. He traveled around for a number of years with his first band called La Playa Sextet. He was a lover of Latin Music, had a great sense of rhythm, and was an entertainer at heart. Whether he was on stage playing the drums or bongos or he was on the dance floor doing the "cha-cha", you'd always see that everpresent smile shining through. He was so happy when he was in his element - music. Sonny lived a good life, he traveled, had his family and many friends and some would have called him "classy", others would say he was "cool", and still others would have called him, "selfless". To his children he was all those things including brave, dignified, - their "hero". For every day that he struggled with his illness, he never once complained. Whenever they asked, "Dad are you okay"?, he would reply, "Fine". There are no words, thoughts, or actions that could ever express how much he will be loved and always missed. He is survived by his sons, Edward, Robert, and Richard; his daughter, Elaine; brothers, Louie and Georgie; grandchildren, Maureen and Nina; and his ever-loving, ever-present, always-barking little friend, his dog, Tuffy. Memorial services will be held Monday, March 29, 2004. For further information, please call FRED HUNTER FUNERAL HOME, 954-989-1550.
