Harold Rosen Memoriam

February 9, 1938- November 28, 2021

The Last Road Trip - A loving Memorial to My Father.

While I was denied any opportunity to say goodbye to him, by my family of origin, based on conspiracy theories which I will not dignify nor comment on, I want to remember the last road trip I took with him to my niece's wedding. I didn't think it would be the last one, but I also knew future trips would be hard based on his health and living situation.

I did all the driving to the Panhandle fueled by gas station coffee. We kept the radio low and had lots of time to talk about the past. At night we would enjoy a whiskey or two.

My niece's beach wedding was beautiful and she was stunning. As the father of the bride was not invited, we took pride in representing the Rosens. The next day we visited the USS Alabama, a WWII battleship museum in Mobile. On the way home we visited a train museum in Plant City.

As I left home for the Navy right after HS graduation and never really spent any significant time back home after that, this road trip became even more meaningful for me. I didn't get to say goodbye to my father, but the memories I have are mine, and no one can take those away! Especially the Last Road Trip.  This is dedicated to Harold Rosen and is posted on his birthday, by his loving son.

One of my earliest memories is when my father, Harold Rosen, took me to the New York World´s Fair in 1964. I would have been 2 and a half years old.

My father would always talk about the World´s Fair and all the amazing "new" technologies he saw like a TV phone and other supposed future gadgets.

The only thing I remember was being scared by the life-sized dinosaurs at the Sinlcair Oil exhibit.

Dear Alec:

If you are the son of Harold & Brenda Rosen, we are cousins.
My cousin Harold was the son of Lily and Murray Rosen. He was a maritime lawyer and in the art business. I last saw him in his West Hampton art gallery, many years ago.
