When we were young, Ian lived around the corner for a couple of years. Ian, Chris Geryk and I played outside for hours at a time. Such great memories. I hadn't seen him since shortly after graduation, but he was definitely one of the good ones. He will be missed...

God of all mystery, lead us who grieve at this untimely death, to a new and deeper faith in your love. May Ian take his place among your angels, and live in peace and happiness forever.
Look with compassion on the suffering of his family in their loss. Sustain them in their anguish; and into the darkness of their grief bring the light of your love.

I had the opportunity to spend time with Taylor and it was so abundantly clear that he was Ian's son. Ian, he has your light that no matter what, never stops shining on all of us, even now. He has your humor. He has your damn good looks. He has your smarts but more importantly, he has your heart. You live through him now here on this earth, but you live for the rest of us when we see folks having fun playing golf. When we see the number 42. When we here a certain giggle and we can't quite put on our finger on who's giggle it is but then it hits us. Any and every time we see anything having to do with Baseball. And for some us, when we get together and tell stories whiling laughing so hard we're crying about our youth. I miss you so much but I feel you. I feel you wanting us to celebrate you and all you stood for. For me that's easy, because it was all good. Your heart was pure, you taught me so much and I love you.
Taylor, Yvette, Ed & Sandra, my thoughts are with you and hope to one day, in the near future see you to share in the celebration of his life. All my love, Sherry

Ian Edward Torres, August 23, 1969 - October 31, 2014
Ian Torres, 45, left this life too soon on Friday morning October 31, 2014 after a year long battle with a rare cancer.
A big guy with a bigger heart, Ian would give the shirt off his back to help a friend in need.
Ian leaves behind his family and the many friends who had the pleasure to travel in his path. To all who knew him, his cheerful smile and bone-crushing hugs will be greatly missed.
Ian was fortunate to spend his childhood in Northampton Mass. making lifelong friends there. A 1987 graduate of “Hamp High” he played football with Coach Tudryn's 1986 championship team and baseball throughout his school years. He was the third baseman and captain of the U Mass baseball team in the early 1990s, made the college all star team in 1991, allowing him the privilege to play at Fenway. Later he played semi-pro ball in Puerto Rico.
He moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his young family in 2000. He owned a small renovation company there. In spite of his busy schedule, he spent his free time volunteering in his son's school and the community. A baseball fanatic, he cherished the opportunity to coach his young players and smiled at the rewards of seeing them do well.
Ian leaves his wife, Sandra Zambrana and son, Ian Taylor Torres of Plantation Florida. His parents, Edward and Yvette Torres of South Bristol, Maine, a sister, Sylvia Torres in California, his adored mother in law, Minerva Velez, brothers in law, Joey and Edgar Zambrana and their families in Lajas, Puerto Rico, his aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout New England and many friends around the country.
A Mass and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Saint Jerome Catholic Church, 2533 SW 9th Ave, Fort Lauderdale FL 33315.
A memorial service will be held in the Northeast at a later date.
