Mom, I could never compare you to anyone.
You were special to everyone who met you. You were so special to me. You always loved me unconditionally no matter what I did or where I was.
I thank the Lord you passed with dignity and grace. I thank the Lord you are at peace.

Me and My Sweet Grannie

Dear Grandma,
When I was small you were always there. You were the first to teach me many things. How to play checkers, cards and Yahtzee. You always had so much patience. I was curious how you made my sandwiches just right. Many times I tried to duplicate them but without success. My sandwiches just never tasted like yours no matter how hard I tried. What I did not realize, is that I would never be able to duplicate them. My sandwiches lacked a grandmother's unconditional love.
Grandma, I cherish those moments. The walks to the bridge, making a wish, and tossing in a quarter, homemade waffles and ice cream, shopping at the grocery store, riding up to the farm store to buy milk and going to mass on Sundays. There was just something so special about everything that we did together. That's why when you needed me, I did not hesitate.
When I was older you thought you were a burden to me. But what you did not realize was that my time with you was a gift. I cherished all of it. Taking you to doctor's appointments, shopping for you, even changing your hearing aid batteries. These small things that you thought were a burden, were some of the most rewarding moments of my life. I will never forget those times we spent together talking and reminiscing. I learned so much about life and feel so honored and blessed that it was me that took on your care. Of course, it was mostly me doing the talking. But there was something wonderful about your quite nature. It allowed me to talk to you and tell you things that I did not tell anyone. I clutch those times with you closely to my heart. I only wish I knew then how dearly I would miss you. There is no one that can take your place. But I will have to let you go. It was your time. You were ready. I know that now. I just did not want to face it then.
Now I have my treasured memories and the many valuable lessons I have learned. Grandma, you will always be a small part of me and I will miss and love you dearly always.

Aunt Jeanette can only be described as a Saint of a person. She was soft spoken, genteel, loving, kind and caring. She always had a positive attitude and I never heard her complain about anything. I am privileged to have just known her.
