To Andrea Martin, I don't know you and your family but I've always loved your work. I heard you interviewed on CBC by Jian Ghomeshi this past fall and learned you were born in Portland. Maine is one of my favorite places on earth and was just curious about your life there. I found this obituary. May I offer my sincere condolences to you and your family on your loss. I lost my Mom this year and it takes quite a long time to adjust and to work your way back to happy memories and great stories, but you do get there eventually. Keep laughing, it's the glue that holds the human race together!

I also had the honor of working for the legendary John Martin way back in the mid 1970's at The Art Gallery Restaurant on Center Street in Portland. I'll always remember him as an honest and kind man, brimming with a deep and profound passion for life.
In deepest sympathy to the entire Martin family and all those close to him

I had the honor of working for John for many years. He and his son Peter were the best bosses a person could ask for. I have thought of John many times through the years. Rest in peace. Blue Smith
