Jules Ross Obituary

ROSS Ross, Dr. Jules R., 71, a longtime South Florida resident, passed away on December 28, 2002. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed and is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 50 years Alberta, children Marsia (Edward) Rice, Jana (James) Earnest, Dwayne (Duree) Ross and Kenneth (Ana) Ross and grandchildren Jennifer, Daniel (Hope), Taryn and Jillian. Also survived by brother Burt (Mary) and brother-in-law Gary (Rochelle) from Southern California. Jules also leaves behind many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors who will always remember him for his unconditional love. Jules always saw the good in people and believed that strangers were friends he had not yet met. Jules is a graduate of USC and former NCAA gymnastics champion, where he pioneered the one-arm handstand on the parallel bars and was an avid bodybuilder. After graduating the University of Guadalajara Medical School, Dr. Ross moved to South Florida to begin working at Baptist Hospital, where he worked in the Emergency Room for 20 years (nicknamed roller-skates, because he was the fastest guy in the ER). Dr. Ross was an adjunct professor at the Barry University Physician Assistant Program and was a former clinical professor at the University of Miami School of Nursing. Dr. Ross currently served as the medical director for the Baptist Health Center and was former director for the Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue. Jules was an extremely generous man whose absence leaves a large hole in the medical community. He donated his time and services to a wide variety of charitable organizations. Jules was also an avid sports car enthusiast and UM Football fan, attending all games on the seasons' schedule. Services will be held at 11 am. on Thursday, January 2, 2003 at Riverside Gordon at 2230 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, FL 33020, Tel. (954) 921-1776. Graveside service to follow immediately at Menorah Gardens at 21100 W. Griffin Road, Southwest Ranches, FL 33332, Tel. (954) 434-1531. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sunshine Cancer Unit at UM c/o Francis Zalesky, 3804 Pine Lake Drive, Weston, FL 33332 or Radio Lollipop at Miami Children's Hospital.

Dear Alberta and Family,

I was so sorry to read of Jules' passing. Even though it has been many years since we last spoke, the Ross family holds a special place in my heart and that of my children, Jeff and Debbie. I remember Jules as such a loving, patient,... and fun parent during our years together in Kendale Lakes. Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time in your family's life.
