Mary A. Carr

Carr, Mary A., 95 formerly of Lauderdale Lakes, passed away on November 15, 2011. Mary was a longtime resident of Florida after moving here over 50 years ago from Poughkeepsie, NY. She was the daughter of the late Rocco and Catherine Canora who came to America on the early 1900's from Naples, Italy and one of nine children, whom have all predeceased her. Mary was employed as a receptionist for the City of Lauderdale Lakes Alzheimer's Day Care Center for several years, retiring in 2009. Prior to that, she volunteered at the Senior Center for 18 years and received an award from the Mayor of the city for her service there. Mary is survived by her daughter, Margaret Maran and her husband, Carl Skarin; grandchildren, Peter Richard and James Conway and Kathryn Mclachlan; Four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews from Florida to New York. Mary will be missed by her family, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2011 and a Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Baird-Case Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 4701 N State Road 7, Tamarac, FL. Interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
