So sorry to hear of Mel's passing. He was a big help to me when I returned to Eastern Region in 1974. We worked closely together on many projects. We shared many good times going out to lunch with Herbie Ross and Charlie Hoch. My condolences to Mel's family. May he rest in peace. Frank Mascari

Mel was a good friend for many years and one I could depend on for excellent advice. I have fond memories when Mel showed up for lunch even after he retired. God rest.

Mel was a good buddy, never at a loss for words, wit, humor or grit. He could have survived a trip over Niagara Falls in a steel drum lined with sufficient good piling. He was great gift to us all as long as he could last. RIP Mel.
