Michael Rivera Obituary

Rivera, Michael J., 46, of Boca Raton, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2006, in the company of loved ones. He lost his personal battle with cancer after a courageous sixyear fight. Mike was born in Norfolk, Virginia on January 19, 1960. He was a 25-year resident of South Florida. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He skied black diamond slopes in the Alps and cruised the Caribbean. Most of all, he loved spending quality time with his wife and children. Mike will be missed by his family and by his many friends. Michael was a successful businessman and he was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He was a talented Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic for Eastern Airlines and Pratt and Whitney. Mike assisted in the building of many of the prototype jet engines that now power the latest generation of military fighter aircraft. He leaves behind his loving wife Treva L. Rivera, daughters Alexis & Tyeler, son Ryan, and stepdaughter Tayler Zona. He is survived by his brother John Rivera, wife Sharon, niece Madison Rivera, mother Carmen Hilda Rivera, all of Melbourne, Florida. Michael was preceded in death by his father Manuel Anthony Rivera. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. The church is located at 22094 Lyons Road, Boca Raton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael's name to the American Cancer Society @ www.cancer.org/docroot/DON/DON_1_Donate_Online_Now.asp..

Mike, I am sorry I did not get to see you, I found out two weeks to late. I think about you all the time, I wish I could have said goodbye, I wish I could have told you how you changed my life. You are a great person and friend. You would be proud of the person I turned out to be. I love you Mike!!

MICHAEL WORKED AS SALES MANAGER FOR OUR COMPANY, PAYLESS ROOFING COMPANY, FROM 2003 TO 2004. HE WAS A VERY INSPIRATIONAL MANAGER AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MUCH OF OUR SUCCESS TODAY. WE BECAME GREAT FRIENDS. WE GREW TO LOVE MIKE. HE COMFORTED US WHEN WE LOST OUR SON, SEAN IN 2005. WE THANK HIM FOR HIS CONDOLENCES. WE OFFER OUR SYMPATHY TO TREVA AND MIKES CHILDREN. Thanks Mike for bringing joy to my life. I'm glad to have known you for almost 30 years. Although I hate the cancer that took you and the pain that it inflicted, it's slow progression gave me an opportunity for me and others to let you know what you meant in our lives.
