Michelle Maus Obituary

MICHELLE RUBECK MAUS

1967 - 2022

Maus, Michelle R. Born September 3, 1967 in Buffalo, New York and died August 6, 2022 at her home in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. On September 26, 1998 she and James P. Maus were married at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

He survives as does Michelle's Mother L. Ann Spear Mayer (James Mayer), sisters Laurie (David) Stack, Jennifer Spear and brother Michael (Shelly) Spear and the extended family of her husband. Sister Elizabeth Maus, brothers William (Vida) Maus III, Arthur (Karen) Maus, Francis (Terry) Maus, Edward Maus and Daniel (Mary) Maus. And many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.. Michelle was immediately welcomed as a family member and was endeared by all. This was a most noteworthy accomplishment. Michelle was predeceased by her father Gary J. Rubeck and parents- in- law William and Jane Ann Maus, with whom she shared a very special bond of affection.

Michelle was employed by Pan American Airlines, and while so employed received the United States Department of Defense Desert Shield and Desert Storm Medals. For twenty five years she worked locally in Financial Services with Morgan Keegan and Morgan Stanley. With her enviable competency and abiding congeniality she was deemed a friend by co-workers and clients. Upon retiring, Michelle became an active participant in the Canine Assisted Therapy Program. She and her loyal dog Auggie visited the Holy Cross Hospital Chemotherapy suites. Her perception as one who had undergone chemotherapy was particularly effective in consoling those patients expediting their infusions. Their visits were welcomed by patients and the Holy Cross Hospital Staff.

Michelle endured her cancer with grace and courage always expressing her appreciation to her care givers and supportive family members.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 19th at 10:30AM in Saint Anthonys Catholic Church, Fort Lauderdale FL. The funeral mass will begin at 11:00AM.

In lieu of expressions of sympathy, Donations can be made in Michelle's honor to:

Michelle and I were good friends and in our younger years. We definitely shared many laughs. We each had our own apartments and would get together once a week (usually at Michelle´s bc she could cook lol) I remember one night stopping over w Çarol .. Michelle was making us a turkey dinner! She was busy studying for her Pan Am interview/language test- always a hard worker. As everyone has stated her smile lit up the room. I´m so sorry James, Ann, Jennifer & family. I will never forget her, always a lady, a friend no one could forget. May Jesus wrap his loving arms around her. Kimberly (Koch) German

Though I knew Michelle for only a short time, I will miss her deeply. Her smile and enthusiasm for life was infectious and I admired her strong confident spirit. She knew what she wanted and expressed it well. Her light was extinguished much to soon, but I look forward to seeing her again one day. Rest easy my friend.

Several years back Michelle E-Mailed offering to visit my Dad at his apartment with her Therapy Dog. I remember my Dad´s Aide telling me how my Dad´s Face lit up in Smiles and he became animated as he petted her Pet. Michelle brought light and Happiness into my Dad´s world with her kind and thoughtful visit. As she had done many times over to those she knew and did not know as she and her pet dogs brought happiness and encouragement to those in need. James I´m sorry and saddened for your loss. May your memories of your shared life be of comfort. R.I.P. Michelle

My treasured memories were her warm hospitality as she so graciously invited me into her home and loved to share with me Beautycounter products. She also shared with me her love of healthy cooking and her animals. She always had a smile on her face and I left her presence feeling uplifted. I will miss her. My prayers are with her beautiful family as they grieve. Hugs, Tricia
