I followed my twin brother Jim on the ivories at Jaxson's in 1975. My mother always told us to practice because we might end up playing piano in an ice cream parlor. Thanks, Monroe for bringing my mother's prophecy to fruition.

Monroe gave me a job playing Jaxson's old upright piano in the mid-70's. It was great fun and I left a far better musician than I arrived. Thanks for the opportunity, Monroe! You were one class act.

Your postcard is the "measuring stick" for my nephews, newly living with me in Dania Beach.....pressed flat against their heads and the door jam, it has already helped record 1" growth for the older one (10) and 3/4" for the other (9). And just the other night, for the first time, the boys, their mother and I got to celebrate the "first school play" at Jaxson's. Thank you for peach and banana flavors and all good memories.

Monroe, you were so talented, caring, gifted, with a "heart of gold", that touched everyone that had the pleasure of knowing and loving you. Your smile touched us all. We'll always remember how "surprised" and "proud" you were when The Greater Dania Beach Chamber honored you as the "Small Business Person of the Year". We always looked forward to seeing you at Hollywood's broadwalk, spending many hours chatting with you; and, of course, at Jaxsons, one of our favorite places! You will truly be missed by all of us!

My Mother was a friend of
Monroe Udell. Many family memories of visits & birthday parties there. As an elementary
school student he would always ask about my report card...when inevitable I would produce good grades he would hand me his card writing on the back ...
" Give this boy whatever he wants!" On entering High School ...he asked "Keeping up the good grades young man?"
When I assured him I had...he would hand me his card. On the back he wrote "Give this young man & his date whatever they want!" That is the kind of caring man he was!!!!
My condolences to his family.

While I didn't personally know Mr. Udell, I know Jaxson's ice cream has been on the map for as long as I remember! I believe that my first visit was in 1992 after my oldest brother was murdered, my dad took me here as a start to a new beginning. Mr. Udell not only founded a business but a strong foundation with fond memories for families and children, first dates, birthdays and anniversaries, etc. Long live Jaxson's Ice Cream and the legend himself.

You will be missed my friend.

Monroe was my friend, We met on Hollywood Beach over twenty five years ago and me and him would sit and talk all the time .Monroe wanted the best for everyone and wanted to reach in his pocket to give. Me and my family stop going to visit him because he wanted to pick up lunch on him and that was not why we would visit. Monroe cared for all people and I will forever miss him.

Miramar High School Class of 1988

June 1, 2014

As kids growing up in southeastern Broward County, we lived for any reason to go to Jaxson's. His wife, Dr. Helen Udell, was our English teacher at Miramar High School. Throughout her tenure there, he graciously donated all of the ice cream each year for the Senior Class Ice Cream Social. We are going to miss this fine gentleman. As long as there is a "kitchen sink" his memory will live on. We send our deepest sympathy to his family and all of the employees.
