Mr. Peacock was an instructor I had at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, I will never forget the video he showed my class of a massive cave system he was helping to document and map that ran for miles under ground, I think it was in Brazil. I am still in shock, He was not a novice, he was an instructor for years, in several different areas scuba, and has travelled the globe instructing and certifying people.
It's even more unsettling to me because he was the first person that popped into my head when I heard a segment of the news alert. I was thinking I would ask him if he knew the guys that this happened to, not even considering it may have been him. It wasn't until I discovered a memorial in the foyer of the school, when I went to class tonight, that I realized he was gone. He will be missed. The world is somehow a lesser place knowing he is not in it. He truly inspired thought and gave a different definition to "living". I don't think he wasted a moment on negativity of any sort. I found a kindred spirit in the way he looked at life to some extent, especially in the idea that he lived life as a series of ongoing adventures. While I didn't know him that well, I admired his honesty and sense of adventure. I will miss seeing him around the campus, his smile, a cheerful hello or how's it going.
To his family, I'm so sorry I missed his funeral, I would have loved to pay my respects and express my condolences.

Dearest Devrim, Attending Patrick's service, we were taken back by the love that his family, friends, and students shared for the two of you. He touched so many lives in so many ways. What a remarkable man, and what an extraordinary life that he lived. You are in our warmest thoughts and prayers. We love you. Julie and Tim
