I've known Preston for over 30 years. He and my boyfriend Joey Ippolito raced boats together and became good friends along with Sandy Satullo. We all had great times over the years. He was a big practical joker and loved his beans and buttermilk!Truly a larger than life figure, there will NEVER be another PRESTON HENN!!!!!!!!!! Say hello to my Joey, Sandy and George for me!!!!!

I met Preston through his wife Betty. she was on the Broward Cultural Council and I was/am running the Fort Lauderdale Int'l Film Festival. Betty liked what we did and she arranged for us to show films inside the Swap Shop in the Circus....and again later we showed a Retro SciFi night at the Thunderbird. Preston was a trip. He was "ok" with us there doing our thing, whatever Betty wanted. Preston and I had a few conversations- I could tell this was one unique dude, flamboyant and full of life. He brought much more to Broward County than a successful business. He brought legend. My thoughts are with sweet Betty.

Preston was an awesome guy. If you didn't know him, you thought he was easy to get over. Needless to say, probably one of the sharpest business men I have ever come across. Very thankful to have met Preston 30 years ago flying him. Had many experiences with him over the years and got to experience Aspen and Los Vegas Preston style! He was very generous and demanding all at the same time. If it hadn't been for Preston I would never have met my wife, so I am eternally grateful for having the wonderful opportunity of getting to spend time with him.

Errol loved Preston and loves to tell stories about their time racing Offshore Powerboats. I hope we can see you sometime in the near future. My name is Bob Tucker most people know me as the Tool man, I work at screen seven .. I've been at the flea market for more than 31 years. I appreciate mr henn giving us a clean place to work and raise our family's and make a living. I'm sure 1,000 of other people that feel the same way as I do. It was always nice to see his face in the morning doing his normal rounds on the golf cart. It will not be the same without you. YOu will be missed. May you Rest In Peace..

I worked at the swap shop for 5 years, it was always a pleasure to see him either come on the property or leaving .. working at three ticket moving the cones and holding traffic so he got on the property safe. I held various jobs out there. From information, clean up crew inside,selling vendor tickets at the gate to the movies/snackbar.my grandfather has been selling tools out there for more than 30+ years.. a lot of changes has taken over in the years.. and all I have to say is thank you sir for your kindest heart to let my family and other family's grow and their businesses.. you will be missed sir

Preston was the most influential person in my life there will never be another like him. My business success is a result of working with him over the years at the Swap Shop. I've worked at the swap shop going on 38 years my name is Dennis but i am called the CHEESE MAN I started selling imported olive oil back at the swap shop in margate at the time Time i lived in Naples fl. Going across the alagator alley on a Friday night to work the market that weekend as time went by I was able to build the BUSINESS Mr henn allowed someone like myself to make very nice liven like anything though it had it's ups and downs mr.Henn has done there at the swap shop what the average person could never do in a million years step back take a look at what Mr. Henn has done. First time I met Preston Henn, I was a teenager getting into a little mischief at his Swap Shop, I had no idea who Mr Henn was, it was only a matter of moments before he let me know in his special way, (firmly grabbing me by the back of my neck & letting me know what his next move was about to be) lol, needless to say my buddies and I quickly wised up and behaved ourselves as he kept an eye from his golf cart. I got to see & speak with Preston again at Ferrari track day's, it was always a big deal to see him. He will be missed by many.

To be so proud of and to mention his name with pride. He was one of a kind! You had to know him to love him! And I did.(Cathy ) , I know you loved your Dad so very much, you use to get so excited to see him like a little girl it was so cute. And when you talk about your Mom also and your Dad
you'd light up like a Christmas tree. Can't blame you. I told you you were a lucky girl . Fly right!! Life isn't always as easy as it is said to be. , Cathy we are so sorry for you and your Mom and family. Be strong. We all went to the margate to the drive in Movies for many years , and to shop ..what great times we all had . We were all so sad when it closed . Even though the swap shop on Sunrise was so big full of life and treasures but the margate was like a small comfortable down to earth kind of like a old style
country flea market and the (venders and shoppers) were all like family to one another Tuesday's & Saturday and Sunday We never missed a day rain or shine ., Christmas or Thanksgiving the margate was always open . , rain puddles or not! , and the thunderbird had so much ground to cover but it was so much fun! So many fond memories of a great day to shop every day and most of all it was always packed solid with people on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday's such fun such joy! Thank you for making our lives a a better place to be. .... first we'd start early @ the margate until we knew for sure that
We covered the market twice , then we'd drive over to the thunderbird and have tons more fun!! Alone or with friends , just a addiction couldn't stay away it was a daily routine for many many years. Making a full day of it 4 days a week Thursday's @ thunderbirds Tuesday's @ Margate and Saturday and Sunday @ both!!
The two flea markets were a big part of our lives for so many happy years. And for many people we knew loved going there having so much fun ! We enjoyed those drive in movies in the car for many years.,so much!! @ both flea markets , and also to shop all those years since the early 70's. Our hearts are heavy for your loss. Only the good die young. He was so good so kind and so smart. May he Rest In Peace. Once again we all want you to know that I'm sure the world is in pain and we are so very very sorry for such a big loss for all of us. We use to see him @ the Hatrd Rock since day one @ the Grand opening and time after time after that. We all spent many days and nights there . We feel that he was a treasure forever to remember

I will always remember the day I met Preston back in the mid 70's @ Howey Academy where I went to boarding school
With his daughter Cathy . He always had a big Wide lense camera on his neck taking pictures. He was a smart kind man and Betty was a really sweet too. . I went to Bonnie's funeral to be their for support
And it was sad. I went to Comfort my child hood friend. Cathy loved her father very much. Her mother Betty was her best friend. From breakfast @ Lesters diner or a movie out. Bonnie's daughter is a very sweet girl I remember her from the margate market. Those were the days. My heart goes out to

What a kind and very interesting person he was. He was a genius in business. I worked details at the Swap Shop many years ago and working for him was a pleasure. His business surely made an impact on South Florida, many ,many families and immigrants who owned their own businesses at the Swap Shop., and yes , even many others from literally all over the world. I never met Mr. Henn, but Broward County sure lost a local icon today. Back in the early days of Hard Rock when they still gave cars away, the Henns probably won several cars. You would hear Preston Henn announced, next drawing it would be Betty Henn. Rest in Peace

Sincere condolances to the Henn family. I met Preston many years ago racing at Daytona, and saw him last year driving at Palm Beach International. I hadn't seen him in a long time, but he was quite a character when we met again, as he was the first time. I know the racing community will mourn his passing. He certainly left an impression no matter where he was. Godspeed.

My most enduring memory is enlisting Bonnie's help in getting her father to at least wear a jacket to the national awards banquet when Preston was driving Bernie Little's Michelob Light offshore boat.
