Russell Langstroth Obituary

Russell Hall Langstroth entered eternal life on November 22, 2021.

Russ was born March 2, 1946 in Greenwich, Connecticut. He moved to Coral Gables, Florida with his family at the age of 11. He was in the 1964 graduating class of Coral Gables Senior High and attended Florida State University where he was awarded a full Tennis Scholarship. He graduated in 1968.

Upon moving to Fort Lauderdale in 1972, Russ became "self-unemployed" founding Langstroth Mortgage Company. He worked up until his death because he found great pleasure and a higher calling in helping people attain and/or maintain their housing dreams.

Russ had a 3-foot rule: whenever he came within a few feet of others, he gregariously would speak to them. He never met a stranger. His family, extended family, personal friends, business associates, clients were all considered "friends".

Russ is survived by his wife of 45-years, Wendy, two special sons: Kenton and Blair (Andrea), three precious granddaughters, sister: Lorraine Wagor (Tom), brother, Leland Langstroth, and nephews, Patrick Wagor (Lindsay) and Stephen Langstroth.

A memorial honoring his life will be celebrated, January 9, 2022 (Sunday) at Gracepoint Church: 5590 NE 6th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33334.

I met Russ Langstroth when I set up the first Loan Correspondent Program for Broward Federal, and then for Centrust Savings and later on, for Barnett Bank. He was a wonderful professional business associate that I always enjoyed buying, or brokering loans through. He was a true high class professional in his field, always kind and pleasant to work with. Now, seeing the date of his passing to Glory, I know why in that year after the covid, that I thought of him, as well as others that I highly respected. He was top on the list of professional mortgage bankers and one of the truest gentlemen that I ever knew in my banking career. He always had photos of his lovely wife and family on his credenza, which made me admire and have great respect for him. I look forward to shaking his hand when I get to Heaven.

Never have we met a person with whom we immediately connected. Russ spread blessings everywhere just by being genuinely interested. We are both deeply, deeply saddened yet know that Russ is having a "top of the morning" with His Savior. Thank you, Russ, for walking this Earth and spreading joy with a servant“s heart. Until we meet again...

Russell, you were a true gentleman. I enjoyed the many conversations about our families, business and I enjoyed offering assistance when you needed it. I'm going to miss helping out one of the "Old Dogs." See you on the other side my friend!

A wonderful man who was gracious and kind to everyone he met. I always felt welcomed around him like family. His family is a reflection of what a great father and mentor he was. Heaven has earned another angel to watch over all of us.
