I knew Steve from Galveston...
I am shocked to hear of this.
Steve was the kindest, warmest gentleman.
Last time I saw him was in Union Station DC.

My heart and prayers to the Family.
A great loss.

My heart goes out to Steve's family along with my prayers and warmest thoughts. Steve was always kind and a professional and showed interest in whatever was being discussed. I appreciated that he always remembered who I was and what was going on in my life. As a member of the port community I will miss Steve and will remember the impact he had on our state seaports and Port Everglades.

Cindy our hearts and prayers are with you and the family - Steve was a good friend and colleague and though we often found ourselves sitting on different sides of the table , we remained supportive of each other .

Cindy and family, We are sending our warmest thoughts and deepest sympathy to you, Steven, Kimberly and their families in this really difficult time. Steve was a consummate port professional, had great acumen and a knack for making things happen. He had a tremendous impact on the Port of Galveston and, in turn, the city as a result of his efforts in building the cruise business here. You and Steve were personally impacted and went through a lot with Hurricane Ike and Steve's perseverance in spite of that made a difference in the recovery following that event. Steve taught me a lot about the port industry and he was held in esteem by the Port's staff. I have some really fond memories of times we spent together during travel for the Port over the years we were colleagues and of some adventures in particular. Steve forged through his illness with optimism, dignity and grace and never lost his focus on his goals, as he always did. I know he will be greatly missed. He will not be forgotten here!

Cindy and family. I know Steve from the late 80's. we met at the Port Authority and became friends. We spent many evenings and weekends studying to achieve our Master's Degree from Dowling College. We dawned our gowns and received our degrees while our children played on the lawn. We shared many laughs and stories about life.

I will miss you my friend.

Cindy and family, you will always remember Steve as the loving husband, father, and grandfather which he was. Those of us who knew Steve as the consummate port professional will remember his commitment to community, port industry, manager, and friend. Broward County's Port Everglades and community has lost an extremely effective advocate. Thank you for sharing his life with us and take solace knowing his life was well lived.

I had the privilege of knowing and working with Steve first in Galveston, TX and then during my stay in Port Everglades. He was not just a good Port Director, he was a fair and decent man. He will be missed!

I got to know Steve's through his activity in AAPA and I am proud to call him a friend. For over 20 years Steve has been a presence in my career and someone I could always count on for support and friendship. Cindy, my family holds you in high regard, your dignity and warm personal style has always been on display, especially during Steve's recent health challenges. We extend our deepest condolences!
