Valerie Mash, beloved mother, wife and friend to many, left this world peacefully on September 9, 2021. She was born to Martha Novitsky and Joseph Chomuik on October 21, 1923. Valerie lived a long life and passed away shortly before her 98th birthday.
She is survived by her children, Prof. Deborah Carmen Mash, Andrea Mash Ramos, and Martin Joseph Mash; her grandchildren, Andrew Scott Ramos, esq. and Erica Carmen Ramos, and great grandson, Malakai Cordozo.
Valerie left Chicago with her husband Carmen Mash (deceased) and moved to Surfside Miami Beach in the early 1950's. Together, they raised a family and started a business, Sun Blest Corporation of Florida. When Carmen died suddenly on March 10, 1974, Valerie assumed his role and operated the company until its closure in 1994.
Sun Blest Corporation of Florida manufactured non-carbonated beverage syrups and concentrates. One of its most popular products was its signature, fresh fruit juice Lemonade.
It has been said that "Valerie made Lemonade out of lemons". No matter what adversity, disappointment or challenges that came her way, she always navigated her way forward with dignity, grace and eternal optimism. Her family was her life's work.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 @ 12:00 pm at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida 33024.
