Victor Shulman

1937 - 2017

Victor Shulman, M.D., died Wednesday, November 22 in Boca Raton. He was 80 years old. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan, beloved children Stephanie (Amir Bronstein), David (Amy Chiu), grandchildren, Mia and Liam Bronstein, sister, Sydelle Herzberg (Norman), and nephew Gilbert Herzberg (Martha Steinman) and family. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Noah, and parents, Hyman and Rose Shulman. Dr. Shulman grew up in The Bronx. He was a graduate of NYU (Phi Beta Kappa); received his M.D. degree from the Chicago Medical School; interned at the Floating Hospital for Children in Boston; and completed his residency at the Jewish Hospital in Brooklyn, as Chief Resident. He received a Masters in Biostatistics from Columbia University. In 1973, he and his family relocated to Boca Raton, where he established his Pediatric practice, which remained open until 2005. From 1985-1986, he completed a Fellowship in Behavioral and Developmental Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. From 1973 until June 2017, Dr. Shulman held various academic appointments at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Shulman was a committed and gifted healer who loved his work, progressive politics, his dog, Pogo, his numerous cats, gardening, good wine, photocopying, friends, and - above all - his family. While modest in nature, he had a quick and wry sense of humor, an optimistic outlook and a warm and caring heart. Private services were held in Boca Raton. The family welcomes contributions in Dr. Shulman's name to Tri-County Animal Rescue or a deserving animal charity.
