Frances Connel Obituary
Graveside services will be at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell, Texas with David Bedford officiating. There will be a family and friend visitation at the Blackwell School from 2:30 P.M. to 3:45 P.M. on Sunday, December 17, prior to the service. Services are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Frances was a long-time resident of Blackwell, Texas. She was great homemaker and mother for many years, not only to her kids but their friends and many others. She loved the lord and she loved to bowl almost as much. She loved her dogs and feeding and watching the hummingbirds. She was a member of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She has been a member of the Bronte Church of Christ for many years, after the Blackwell Church closed its doors.
Frances Married James E Connel, Jake as many knew him, on December 25, 1948 at Frances' family's farm in Winters, Texas. They lived in Avoca, Stamford, and Richland Springs for years before they moved to Blackwell in 1971. They had many special friends over the years from church, schools, and communities where they lived.
Frances was survived by her Daughter Linda Dixon and Husband Roy of Abilene, her son John Connel of Snyder, her son Marshall Connel and wife Sandy of Sweetwater, Her son Brad Connel and wife Kim of Midland, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her Siblings Evelyn Seymore and husband Phil, Patrcia Cooper and Husband Jimmy, Nan Howard and Husband Gerald, and Bailey Thetford and wife Ramona and many Nieces and Nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Edgar "Jake" Connel in 2008. She was also preceded in death by two daughters Barbara Hall and Gaylon Germany. Also, siblings Benny Thetford, Robert Thetford, Dorothy Hubbard and Margaret Larson.
In Lieu of flowers, make donations to the Bronte Church of Christ, Blackwell CISD or a charity of your choice in memory of Frances E. Connel.
