Marian Kay Reed Obituary

Marian Kay McKinney Reed, 72, of Abilene, Texas, formerly of Sweetwater, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the home of her son in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Rusty Fry officiating. Interment will follow directed by McCoy Funeral Home. A Wake and visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Marian was born to Max and Roxie Mae (Rivers) McKinney June 20, 1953 in Spur, Texas. Family moved to Lubbock soon after her birth and lived until Marian Kay was in her early twenties and moved back to Spur, Texas. Later, Kay moved to Sweetwater and resided until about 15 years ago when she moved to Abilene, Texas. She married Robert Reed, Sr. in Crosbyton, TX January 20, 1978. He preceded her in death November 22, 2021. She was a Baptist and a stay at home mother and wife taking care of and raising her children. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by three sons, Robert Reed, Jr, of Abilene, TX, Ceddrick Reed and Chester McKinney both of Sweetwater, TX, two daughters, Tina Thomas of Odessa, TX, Shalawn Smith of Snyder, TX, two sisters, Janice Robinson and husband Bennie of Big Spring, TX, Linda McKinney of Sweetwater, TX, three brothers, Lonnie McKinney and wife Toni of Sweetwater, TX, David McKinney of Sweetwater, TX, and Vernon McKinney and wife Della of Lubbock, TX, 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband,, Robert Reed, Sr., her parents, a brother, Vernon McKinney, and a grandchild, Devont'a Smith. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mccoyfh.com.
