Carole Beth Aytekin Railey
Carole Aytekin, 55, passed away peacefully after a prolonged battle with liver and kidney failure. She died in hospice at Baptist Health in Fort Smith at 8:15 AM on July 23, 2021, with her brother Paul by her side. A Memorial Service will be held in the Fall. Carole was born February 13, 1965 in Dallas and was adopted as an infant by David and Joy Railey. Her adopted father is a Baptist Minister at Bethel Baptist Church in Barling , Arkansas. He lives in Barling. Her adopted mother was a church secretary, organist , piano teacher and most recently , a Sunday School teacher at Bluff Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Carole's mother lives in Fort Smith. Carole, a homemaker, lived in various states and countries including New York, Los Angeles, Germany, and Turkey. She was married twice. She was known for her intelligence, humor, and rambunctious laugh. She spend her last decade pestering the staff in various assisted living facilities in Northwest Arkansas. She cared deeply for her family. Carole Aytekin is survived by her mother, Joy Chamberlain; her father, David Railey; her sister , Sharon Railey; her brothers Mark and Paul Railey; two daughters, Sarah Hagen and Meryem Beyham ( who is expecting twins in late October) ; and one grandson, Sarah's son, Sterling. Carole was preceded in death by her sister, Julie Ann Hodkinson. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
