Larry Forrest Meadows
Larry Forrest Meadows passed from this life into the presence of His Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, July 23, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born at St Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith to R.C. & Mildred Meadows.
Larry graduated from Central Baptist High School in Hattiesburg MS in 1974 and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro in 1980 with a Business Degree. He began his career at ABF on September 15, 1980 and retired after 40 years and 4 months on January 29, 2021. He was ordained as a deacon at North Park Baptist Church in Van Buren in 1988 and was a faithful choir & church member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents R.C. & Mildred Meadows and mother-in-law Betty Gipson. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Renee, his favorite daughter Emily (Travis) Brown; his favorite son Grant (Tara) Meadows and his five grandchildren Isabel & Ava Brown and Forrest, Timber & Fisher Meadows all of Van Buren. His brother Gary (Mary) Meadows of Hattiesburg MS; his sister Becky (Randy) Teague of Conway, AR; his brother Mark (Cynthia) Meadows of Springdale, AR. His father-in-law Jay Gipson of Van Buren; his brother-in-law James (Terri) Gipson of Greenwood; his brother-in-law Gary Gipson of Bethel Heights; his sister-in-law Gaye (Alan) Harrison of Lavaca; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 1400 Grand Ave in Fort Smith at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, 3001 Oak Lane, Van Buren. The service is entrusted to Lewis Funeral Home in Fort Smith. Officiating will be Pastor Emeritus Bro. Dale Thompson. Active Pallbearers will be Jim Carroll, Ed Leslie, Gordon Pruitt, Earl Reed, Joe Riggins and David Wetzel. Honorary Pallbearers will be former co-workers at ArcBest Corporation.In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to Gideons International at www.gideon.org
