L.R. Darden Obituary
L.R. Darden, M.D., 85, of Little Rock passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his home.
He was born September 11, 1935 in El Dorado, AR to the late Lester and Lillian (Taylor) Darden.
He was a family practice doctor for 35 years, an Eagle Scout and a member of Uniontown Baptist Church in Uniontown. After medical school, he became a flight surgeon with the U.S. Navy and was attached to the Marine Corps Helicopter Squadron.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, January 22, 2021 at Hall Cemetery in Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Jean; daughters, Drew Hayes and Dana Hignite both of Charleston, SC and Diane Luce of Scottsdale, AZ and; sons Bruce Rice of Fort Smith and Richard Darden of Charleston, SC; a sister Joyce Snider of Little Rock; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Justin Wright, John Darden, Richard Darden, Allen Darden, John Rogers and Bobby Russell.
Dr. Darden may be viewed Wednesday and Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren, 700 Jefferson St.

Dr. Richard Darden (Doc) Was Who Every Physician Should Aspire To Be !!! He Was Straight Forward When Giving Me or my FormerHusband ( Gene Wells ) Medical Advice or Personal Advice On a Matter however Doc Had a Compassionate Side As Well and No Telling How Each and Every Patient or their Family Affected Him ; No Telling How Many Nights he Lay Awake Wondering and Praying Over one of His Many Many Patients Which Some Even Became Friends Eventually . Doc Was the Last of the American Family Doctor ; a Marcus Welby Of Van Buren and He Was Loved And Appreciated by His Patients including Myself and My Former Husband Gene Wells . Two People GOD Placed In My Life to Pray for me ; Give me Very Wise Council and Were My Earth Angels Before and After my Divorce to Help me; Cry With Me and Pray with Me that Was Dr. Darden and My Attorney; Mentor and Great Friend and Sister in Christ - Trina Yerby !!! She Graduated to Heaven in Sept 2020 and Now Doc Joins Her to Walk the Beautiful Gardens and Sit by Flowing Waters of Heaven . If I Know Doc and My Former Husband and Eventually Good Friend Again before Gene Passed ; He and Doc are Sitting On a Fishing Bank and Enjoying A Reunion Talking about Old Times on Gene's Mountain Home or Doc's Cabin . Prayers ; Hugs and Sympathy to His Wife Jean and The Two Members of His Family I Got to Know Well His Daughter Dianne and My Daughter's Friend which is Jennifer McBroom .✝✝✝❤❤❤❤❤
