Luther Reed, 77, of Fort Smith, AR, passed away on June 20, 2021. He was born on September 22, 1943 in Nashville, Arkansas to William Alexander Reed and Nancy Jeffers Reed.
He is survived by his wife, Barbie Reed of the home; one son, Bobby Reed (Blake) of Springdale; one sister, Jo Jones of Nashville, AR.; four grandchildren, Dakota Reed (Amanda) of Lavaca, Shaunna Reed (Aszur Rollins) of Denver, Co., Alex Reed (Susan Warren) of Fort Smith, Krista Clark of Fort Smith; six great grandchildren, Kingston, Phoenix and Aspen Reed; Rivers Clark, Kelsey Warren, Emily Sargent; numerous extended family and friends.
Luther was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Shane Reed and Gig Reed.
Luther had been in the mortgage business for over 45 years dealing in residential home financing, licensed in both Arkansas and Oklahoma. He was a member of the Fort Smith Realtors Association, the National Association of Mortgage Brokers and the Arkansas Association of Manufactured Homes. His hobby was his business. In addition, Luther loved watching and listening to the Razorbacks in Football, Basketball and Baseball, never missing a game. There were many nights where he and his son, Bobby would be cursing the TV in one moment and jumping with joy the next. Never a dull moment with our hogs.
The love Luther had for his grandchildren was unmatched and looked forward to his best buddy Kingston visiting every weekend. He was happiest when they all came over for special occasions such as holidays and birthdays, and his home was filled with laughter.
Luther's greatest joy was his wife of nearly 59 years, Barbie. There was not a night that went by where Luther didn't make sure his bride knew the love he felt. Whether it be playful kisses, a pat on the butt, or telling her after every meal "keep that up old woman and I'll keep you around." While their life was filled with love of family it was the love between them that shined for all to see.
