Tammy Sauls

February 27, 1938 - November 14, 2021

CHILHOWIE, Va.

Tammy Lovern Sauls went to her eternal home on November 14, 2021, after courageously battling dementia for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Tom Sauls; parents, Scott and Louise Blevins Lovern; sister, Frances Stamper; and niece, Mary Viola Bice.

Born in Glade Spring, she devoted her life to being a mother and wife on a working farm, always providing a welcoming place to gather for family, church members and friends. She worked at Bonham Brothers Apple Orchards as a bookkeeper for more than 30 years and later worked an additional 20 years before retiring from Smyth County Chamber of Commerce. She loved to share history and stories about her home community. One of her greatest joys was worshiping and serving at Riverside Baptist Church, where she cared for children in the nursery and church for more than 50 years. She also loved to serve her community, through supporting school and sporting events and being a founding member of the community Ruritan Club.

She is survived by her son, Daniel (Michelle) Sauls; daughter, Della Sauls; grandchildren, Josh Sauls, Emma Sauls, and Bryce Casteel; sister, Brenda Bice; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty Sauls Williams and husband, Bill, Shannon Sauls and wife, Nancy, Ann Sauls Armstrong, and Donna Sauls Berry and husband, Steve; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Valley Health Care for their compassionate care, and extend their deepest gratitude to Joan Blevins for her special friendship, care and continued visits with Tammy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2021, at Riverside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to Riverside Baptist Church nursery, c/o Linda Sturgill, 1429 Riverside Road, Chilhowie, VA 24319. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.

Bradley's Funeral Chapel is serving the Sauls family.

Daniel, Della and families,
My deepest sympathy over the passing of Tammy. Tammy and I worked together at the Chamber for 5 years and we became good friends. She was always a nice, humble, and caring person who would always go the extra mile to help someone. I will miss her, but consider it a privilege to have known such a special person. God bless .
