Dolores Jane VanDeWalker July 14, 2021 On Wednesday July 14th, 2021, Dolores Jane VanDeWalker, 91 of Edden Lane, North Syracuse passed away at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Solvay, Dolores resided in North Syracuse since 1953. She graduated from Solvay High School 1948 and remained active with their reunion committee until recent years. Her first job at the local bakery taught her the skills that became one of her most beloved passions – baking. The delectable treat of her home-made cream puffs in the midst of the 'Blizzard of 1966' remains a warm memory to this day. Her chiffon cake is a signature of her life, creating wedding and special occasion cakes for family and friends. She was active with Home Bureau, artistic with ceramics, an avid bowler, enjoyed traveling the world with her friends, and loved to dance at Dancing Under the Stars with the Stan Colella Orchestra, or to the big bands at Lemoyne Manor. Still, her dearest times were with the 68 years of Edden Lane families enjoying lobster bakes, cookouts, and lifelong friendships. Dolores retired in 2001 after 31 years as Administrative Secretary to the Plant Manager at Church & Dwight. She was also employed previously as a secretary at Allied Chemical. She served as President of the Professional Secretaries Association. Dolores proudly served for years as a board member, and as the first Woman Chair for the Board of Directors of ACMG Federal Credit Union. She was a longtime member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church. She was predeceased by her parents; Elizabeth (Borell) and Joseph G. Rausa, brothers; Joseph & Gerald Rausa, sister; Eleanor Francemone, former husband; Carl W. VanDeWalker, Sr, and her beloved dog "Ginger". Survived by her children; Marc A. (Devera) VanDeWalker, of Cicero, Joel E. (Christine) VanDeWalker, of Indian Trail, NC, Gerald A. (Theresa) VanDeWalker, of North Syracuse, MaryEllen (Mark) Venesky, of North Syracuse, Carl W. VanDeWalker, Jr., of Morenci, MI, and Richard C. (Lonny) Palmieri, of Fairhaven. Grandchildren: Lauren VanBenCoten, of Stevensville, MD, Michael VanBenCoten, of North Syracuse, Camryn and Cara VanDeWalker, of Cicero, Mitchell VanMeter, of Indian Trail, NC, Landon Sky, of Syracuse, Joseph, Brooke, Austin, and Gerald VanDeWalker, of North Syracuse, Michael Daino, of NC, Christina Ritter, of OK, Christopher Palmieri, of MA, and 17 beautiful great-grandchildren. Sister; Betty (Mike) Miguel, of Bluffton, SC, sister-in-law, Ruby Rausa, of Timonium, MD, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. At Dolores's request, there will be no services. Inurnment will be at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church columbarium. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Luther Memorial Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 435 South Main Street, North Syracuse, NY 13212. BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, has care of arrangements.
