Lucy Mae Sims Cathcart September 5, 2021 Lucy Mae Sims Cathcart, 91, of Syracuse, New York departed this life, Sunday, September 5, 2021, after a brief illness. She was born April 13, 1930, in York, South Carolina. She was a Syracuse resident since 1956. She was a charter member of Tucker Missionary Baptist Church, where she sat on the Mother's Board. She was employed at Community General Hospital before retiring from Rosewood Heights, formerly Plaza Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Martha and Everette Sims, brother James Sims, sisters Rita Meadows and Mary Lee Sims, daughters Elizabeth Cathcart and Barbara Mobley; son Steven Cathcart; grandsons Neal and Darrell Mobley and great-grandson Darrell Mobley Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters; Deloris Cathcart and Geneva (Anthony) Glass of Syracuse N.Y., three sons William (Joe) Cathcart of Orange, C.A., James Cathcart of Houston, T.X. and David Cathcart of Syracuse N.Y.; four sisters, Dorothy L. Lindsay, Nancy S. Taylor and Augusta S. McCoy of Gastonia N.C., Martha S. Graham of Roswell, G.A.; two brothers, Everett Sims Jr. of Gastonia, N.C. and Thomas A. Sims of Corona, C.A.; son in law Doy Mobley of Syracuse N.Y., her dearest friend Mrs. Janis Gunn of Syracuse, N.Y. and a host of grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren other loving relatives and friends.
