Richard Pierce Obituary

Richard F. Pierce, DC, 90, of Oswego, formerly of Fulton, passed away Tuesday evening at Rosewood Heights Health Center in Syracuse. He was born in Volney, a son to the late Harold and Ruth Pierce. Richard was a chiropractor for 30 years in Fulton and then in Palermo. Retiring in 1979, he moved to Geneva and lived there for several years before settling in Oswego. Richard was the NY District Director of the Chiropractic Association from 1962 - 1963; a member and past president of the Kiwanis; a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine Media Temple, Elks, Lions and the American Legion. He was also a past member of the Palermo Planning Board and the Palermo Assessors Board. Richard was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, who died April 18, 2010; brothers, Paul and Raymond Pierce. Richard is survived by a daughter, Karen Ruth Pierce of Syracuse; five sons, Steven R. (Mary) Pierce of Oswego, Jan H. (Laurie) Pierce of Mexico, Eric S. Pierce of Indianapolis, IN., Thomas C. (Bonnie) Pierce of Edgartown, MA. and James E. (Patsy) Pierce of Mt. Wolf, PA.; 2 stepsons, John (Jamie) Wilson of Oswego and Cecil Wilson of the Forest Port, NY; a stepdaughter, Lois (John) Totterdale of Oswego; sister-in-law, Natalie Pierce of Fulton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 with services to follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. So sorry for your loss, Doc was a wonderful person. Many special memories and great times when Doc & Liz lived in Palermo, I will always remember when I danced with him at the get togethers they use to host. Doc & Liz were two of the nicest and most fun people I have ever met.

Sorry for your loss. Your dad and my mother veronica claeys were first cousins. We spent many hours at your grand parents home in Fulton. My mom use to stop to see your dad on her way home from camp. Linda (claeys) Rollinson Gram Burleigh was our connection.
