Thomas Racculia

Thomas Racculia, 69, of Brewerton, New York, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Upstate University Hospital.
Born in Syracuse, Thomas graduated from Onondaga Community College and later attended Empire State College, earning his Bachelor's Degree while working two jobs and raising his family. He retired from Abbott Laboratories after many dedicated years of service. Over the course of his career, he also worked at A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton, St. Joseph's Hospital, and the American Red Cross.
Thomas was a proud member of the Men's Wednesday Senior Golf League at Beaumont Greens. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. A music lover with a flair for the performing arts, he sang, acted, and danced in many productions as a member of the Pompeian Players. He was happiest in the kitchen, especially when baking bread for his family, and he held a deep affection for his pets.
A man of many talents, Thomas had an uncanny ability to figure out how to do just about anything. After retiring, he embarked on an incredible journey, sailing from Lake Ontario to the Bahamas with his wife and two close friends-an adventure that reflected his curiosity and courage. Thomas will be remembered as a friendly, loyal, and warm-hearted man who shared his gifts generously with those around him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Shirley Racculia; brother, Frank Racculia; and his in-laws, Robert and Dolores Rankin.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia (Rankin) Racculia; sons, Thomas (Brian) Racculia and Robert Racculia; siblings, Michael (Jane) Racculia, Susan (Edward) Dunn, and Richard (Barbara) Racculia; sister-in-law, Kerry Racculia; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Upstate Cancer Center and the dedicated team on Unit 5B at Upstate University Hospital. Their kindness, expertise, and support provided great comfort to Thomas and his loved ones during a difficult time.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at FARONE & SON Inc Funeral Home, 4899 W. Taft Road, Liverpool. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Thomas's life will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, 9:30 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish, 592 S. Main Street, Central Square.
