He was born the son of Albert McLeod Bethune, Sr. and Melba Mohl on November 14, 1921, in Miami, FL. Albert, Jr. at 6 weeks old was brought to Daytona Bch, FL to live with his grandmother Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune and was subsequently adopted as her son. He served as Faculty Coordinator/Sponsor of the Bethune-Cookman University Inspirational Gospel Choir for over 40 years, which he lovingly called his Angelic Choir. So sorry to learned of Albert's transition so far after the fact. Thank God, I got the word today. Nevertheless, I too, say yes to the will of All Mighty God. Please accept this sincere acknowledgement of condolence.

I met Albert, in the fall of 1971, shortly after the formative years of the College's Gospel Choir; by grass root students: John Young and Betty Jo (Williams?) from South Florida. In the beginning, the Choir's Zeal & Zest to exist met with opposition.
Nevertheless, Albert demonstrated favor! Under his interest we persevered; thereby able to exist, formulate, sing gospel music, travel, be expose, pray, worship, secure robes, enjoy ourselves, etc. Surely, he honored commitment and tenacity; having I won his utmost respect upon graduation in the end! This shall always be an earned fact of life, I will forever remember and appreciate.

I am told there's a half that's never been told and unearned suffering is redemptive. So, I am declaring better days are actually assured continuously for all of us. Ache'

Mr.Bethune was a friend of mines and the Bethune family are Royalty because they carry themselves as such. I can only believe that they follow in the footsteps of a Great woman named MARY. Albert learned well and he always had a smile for you and always looked you in the eye for a return smile...Mission accomplished and well done to a faithful servant of God and son to BCC. His memory will always live.

We have known you our entire lives and though you were so much older than us and many people thought that you are our dad, you were our Big Brother and we love you. Growing up in the house right next door to you and engaging you on the campus of the Bethune Cookman you always had a joke and a place for us. I am your first sister Dr. Evelyn Bethune and then of course there were the twins Robert and Hobson and even later came Sara. Yes there are 5 grandchildren of Dr Mary McLeod Bethune born of her only son Albert Bethune Sr. Once there were 5 now there are 3 we will miss you Big Brother but Hobson is waiting to welcome you in period

I feel fortunate to have known Mr. Bethune. I worked for him as a work study student in Archives. When he learned I was a Quincy native and he knew my family, he began to call me Cookie (my nickname) and he became my favorite work study boss. I loved him and I'm grateful for the memories I have of him. My sincerest condolences. LaVetra Sanders
