Pastor Bertha L. Howard Thompson

Bertha L. Thompson Pastor Bertha L. Howard Thompson, 98, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at Miracle Hill Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. The service will be at 11 a.m. EST Saturday at Faith Christian Family Center, 310 Laura Lee Drive, with the burial at Southside Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. EST Friday at Strong and Jones Funeral Home (850-224-2139). Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. EST Friday. The funeral cortege will assemble at 10 a.m. EST Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Thompson was a native of Wakulla County, and she had lived in Tallahassee most of her life. She was the founder and pastor of several First Born Churches of the Living God. She established churches in Bethel, Chattahoochee and Monticello. During her latter years she became a member of True Fellowship Holiness Church in Tallahassee, under the leadership of Elder Charles Smith. Survivors include her son, Jensen Taylor (and Ruth) of Tallahassee; a grandson, Lamar Taylor (and Angela); four great-grandchildren, Devante, Asheley, Dacari and Aliyan Taylor, all of Tallahassee; six sisters-in-law, Lillie Howard, Rebecca Howard, Susie Thompson and Laura Dixie, all of Tallahassee, Louise White of Cleveland, Ohio, and Evelyn Howard of West Palm Beach; eight nieces; 12 nephews; a host of relatives and friends; and many, many spiritual sons and daughters.
