Brian Gibbs Obituary

Brian David Gibbs

Brian David Gibbs, dear loving son of Eydie and Harold Gibbs, 41, died on Friday, November 25, 2016 in Costa Rica. He died leaving a deep void in the hearts of our entire family and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Gibbs; paternal grandparents, Louis and Nell Gibbs and maternal grandparents, Lena and Jo Berkowitz.

In addition to his mother, Brian is survived by two brothers, Greg Gibbs (Angela) and Marshall Gibbs (Deavin); three nephews, Spencer, Aiden and Joseph; two aunts, Ruby Goldfield and Zelda Fischler; an uncle, Arnold Gibbs and many cousins.

Brian was born and raised in Tallahassee. He was larger than life, never meeting a stranger. He had many friends who knew him since grammar school, as well as friends he made while living in Costa Rica over the last ten years of his life. Brian had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling to different places around the world.

Brian started his first business (lawn service) when he was sixteen, which grew into Gibbs Tree Service. He sold the business to invest in a hotel, a marina and condos in Costa Rica. He loved Costa Rica and enjoyed showing off his adopted country to the many friends who came to visit.

There will be a celebration of Brian's life at 3:00 p.m. on January 21, 2017 at the Phipps Farm. All of his family, family's friends and friends of Brian are invited. Please bring pictures and happy memories to share.

May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts. We will always remember his infectious smile and willingness to help others. He was a kind and generous man and I am proud to call him my son.

Kelly Barber of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193, www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the Gibbs family with their arrangements.

Brian was a dear friend of mine for many years. He helped me after a very bad relationship and continued to always be supportive of me. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. May he Rest In Peace in God's arms. Such a loving and caring person and he will always be in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with the Gibbs family.

My deepest sympathy to the Gibb's family.
My oldest sister, Olivia Jefferson Skinner worked for Brian's paternal grandparents at Gibb's Ladies Dress Shop before it closed many years ago. She remained very close friends to the Gibb's family.

I am so sad to read this. Brian was one of the nicest people I've ever met. I was always so impressed at what he accomplished at such a young age. Brian could always make your day by his awesome attitude and was always wearing his priceless smile. May he rest in peace.
