Harold Eugene Pitts

Harold Eugene Pitts, age 85, of Tallahassee, Florida, died on Sunday, July 9, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

Son of Arthur G. and Bertha Hayes Pitts of Mitchell County, GA. He grew up enjoying family farm life in the Branchville-Hopeful, GA. area. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy, Harold began active duty during the Korean War. After marriage in Camilla, GA., and earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University, he began his career as a salesman in the oil industry. He and his wife Beverly Waldron Pitts lived the last 52 years in Tallahassee and enjoying 5 children; 10 grandchildren, a lot of Seminole football, fishing, golfing, gardening, and lots of traveling after they both retired.

Harold is survived by his wife, Beverly Pitts of 64 years and their 5 children; Harold Martin, Barbara Helen Griffin, Helen Elaine Gunn (Tommy), John Douglas (Tonya), Susan Diane Johnson (Randy), two sisters; Merle Ross of Thomasville, GA. and Margie Kirkland of Sylvester, GA., 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children N. Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL., 33607 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516 Topeka, KS 66675.
