Harry Harlan Obituary

Harry Manuel Harlan Jr. MIDDLEBURG - Harry Manuel Harlan Jr., 72, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in Jacksonville after a lengthy illness. The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. EDT Saturday at Oakland Cemetery in Tallahassee. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT Friday at Beggs Funeral Home Apalachee Parkway Chapel (850-942-2929). Harry was born in Pensacola on Sept. 11, 1932, to Harry and Fern Harlan. The family moved to Tallahassee, where Harry grew up. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of honorable service. After retiring, he attended Jones College of Jacksonville. He also retired from Centex Homes as a field supervisor. He was a Baptist and had lived in Middleburg for the past 28 years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia Trammell Harlan; two sons, Harry Manuel Harlan III (and wife Maralee) of Sidney, Maine, and Timothy Alan Harlan of Middleburg; a brother, David Harlan of Crawfordville; two brothers-in-law, David O. Trammell (and wife Faye) and Ronald Trammell (and wife Henrietta), both of Tallahassee; a sister, Lois Daniels of Vero Beach; four grandchildren, Sarah Harlan Williams of Portland, Maine, and Ruth Harlan, Rachel Harlan and Christina Harlan, all of Sidney; and many nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death in June 2001 by a son, Charles David Harlan.

Ginger and Boys:

Our hearts go out to you in your loss. I remember Sonny and his banana yellow convertible well.

Did not know about Charles either. We know what it feels like to loose a son as we lost our Hank June 27, 2003.
