Hester McKinstry Obituary

Hester Roy McKinstry Jr. COLQUITT - Hester Roy McKinstry Jr., 79, a funeral director, died Friday, September 14, 2007, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The service will be at 2 p.m. EDT Sunday at the Sheffield Funeral Chapel of Colquitt Funeral Home (229-758-3571), with burial at Colquitt City Cemetery. Dr. Carl Marshall and the Rev. Bobby Whittaker will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colquitt First Baptist Church (229-758-2723) or a charity of your choice. You may sign the guest book and share your special thoughts and memories with the family by visiting www.colquittfuneralhome.com. He was born August 8, 1928, in Randolph County. Mr. McKinstry and his father, Hester Roy McKinstry Sr., owned and operated Colquitt Funeral Home from 1941 until 1990, when they sold the business. Mr. McKinstry continued to work in the business as a licensed funeral director and embalmer until his death. He also served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Walter C. Dancer Lodge No. 115 of the Masons and the Albany Hasan Shrine Temple. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda McKinstry of Colquitt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy McKinstry.
